Testing
I know its been a long time since I last commented and I apologize for that.
I think our house church fellowship has been going through some serious testing lately. Three families are going through some testing that will force them to trust God to get them through this season. It was very appropriate yesterday that Aaron brought us a study in perseverance. He took us through some of the passages in the Bible that talked about how we are to persevere through all kinds of trials. Through this perseverance, or endurance, God grows our faith within us.
It seemed to me that some people are going through testing that compares to the auto crash testing that you hear about. And we are somewhat like the crash test dummies. How well we get through the crash depends on a number of things. First, how good is our support structure, the car that we are traveling in. This would be those other members of the Body of Christ that are around us and that provide a buffer between us and the elements of the world. Jesus is the seat and shoulder straps that we need to use for them to do us any good. Are we putting those on each time we go out into the world? Finally, our faith is the air bag that keeps us within the confines of the car so that we can be ministered to.
Although this is a very crude analogy, you only need to see a dramatic test crash and then see what some of your brothers and sisters go through to see the similarity.
We see a lot of trials within the house church movement. Some may say its the opposition doing his thing. Some may say that its testing that we all go through. Either way, I believe that God uses these things to test us, to build up our endurance in the faith. He also uses it to show others how to minister to the ones going through the trials. Remember, we serve a sovereign God. He is not surprised by anything that happens to us. He promises to provide everything you need to get through these times.
