Phoenix Area House Churches Newsletter
News from the home-front of the house church movement in Phoenix, AZ.

Greetings!
Every summer, I am reminded that the great
weather we have the rest of the year does not
come without a price. The summer is the cost
we pay
for the great weather God blesses us with the
rest of the year.
I hope you are taking the opportunity to get
away to cooler climates this summer. For
norther Arizona, until it rains, there will
be an extreme fire danger resulting in
campfires completely banned.
Pray for rain.
In this month's edition, I continue updates
on some of the family and friends that we
know that are serving in the military.
Please let me know of anyone we can add so
that we can keep them in our prayers.
Also included are a couple of very unique
ministry opportunities for the house church
community.
This newsletter may be a little longer than
normal but don't miss any of the valuable
information below.

Prayers and Praises
|
|
From the Phoenix house churches
- Continue to pray the Luke 10:2b prayer
asking God to send the house churches of
Phoenix into His harvest field. Pray for
spiritual renewal within the house churches
of Phoenix.
- Praise God for those faithfully taking part
in the Valley's Saturday Morning Mountain Top
Prayer
Campaign. Plan now to take part in the next
one on August 4.
- Pray for our family members who don't know
the Lord.
- Praise God for Ken, who accepted Jesus in
his heart June 24. Ken struggles with
alcohol and has been dry since that day. He
has also reconciled with his wife and moved
back home.
Larry and John are meeting with him weekly in
an accountability group. Pray for Ken and
his family.
- Pray for David Croom who is piloting a new
discipleship program with Prison Fellowship.
He is holding workshops during July at
Florence to
train others to take this program nationally.
This could have great impact on the prison
population in the US.
- Pray for Fredrick, a new believer who is
being discipled by Darrell. Fredrick is
searching for a person of peace in an
unchurched area. Pray that he finds one and
passes on what he is learning to others.
- Pray for another new believer in
dealing with a case of child abuse that
threatens a new church planted by Darrell.
- Pray for our friend Ruth Abbitt who has
been in the hospital for several weeks
fighting a condition of the pancreas. Also
pray for her husband Jerry who is also in the
midst of starting a financial services business.

Aaron Spence, Debbie Rowden's son, who
we have been reporting on regularly, is in
the Navy stationed at Whitbey Island NAS, WA

Indian Ocean. Prior to getting is orders to
the Nimitz, he flew down to Phoenix and
became engaged to Elizabeth De La Rosa.
Aaron can be emailed aboard the Nimitz at robert.spence@cvw11.navy.mil
.
Liz De La Rosa departed for Army basic
training July 3 and is currently at Ft.
Jackson at Columbia, SC. She will be a chaplain
aide. Please keep Aaron and Liz in your
prayers.
Bradley Pontious, son in law of Larry
and Sue Johnson, is in Army basic training
at Ft. Benning, at Columbus, GA. He will
be completing basic on July 18 and is
expected to transfer to Ft. Gordon at
Augusta, GA for his job training. His family

before transporting him to Augusta. Please
pray for them.
If you want to get the true story of how we
are doing in Iraq, be sure to subscribe to
Michael Yon's dispatches at http://www.michaelyon-online.com/.
He is an independent correspondent funded
completely by donations. He has recently
covered the fighting in Baqubah. This town was
completely taken over by al Queda. Removing
them and the fear that they had imposed on the
population has brought this town back to life.

Resources
|
|
For the house church
Each newsletter, we try to present some new
resources for the house churches. If you
have found a book, website, or other resource
that you would like to
share with others in the house church, write
a short review and email to me. I'll get it
in one of the next editions.
Church Planting Resource, a ministry of
Chad and Trish Irving, exists to provide free
resources for simple church planting. At the
website,
a resource packed CD can be requested free of
charge. Also you can find links to Chad's podcast
where he discusses his experiences in
simple church planting. And now you can help
support Church Planting Resource every time
you search the Internet. GoodSearch.com is a
new search engine that
donates half its revenue, about a penny per
search, to the charities its users designate.
You use it just as you would any search
engine, and it's powered by Yahoo!, so you
get great results. Just go to http://www.goodsearch.com/?charityid=847046
and search from there. Please consider
making this link a favorite.
How Many Are Coming For Dinner? is the
title of an article published by NTRF.
The article, written by Sandra Atkerson, is
directed to the ladies who
are usually responsible for putting together
the Lord's Supper or fellowship meal which is
typically part of a house church gathering.
See the website
for the article.

Ministry Opportunities
|
|
For the house church community
This came from Rich Kraemer of Sonlight Home
Church in Surprise.
With this weeks heat I thought today maybe a
good day to let you all know
an outreach to Ukraine. We are planning it
for late Oct or early Nov. It
should be about 60 degrees cooler. Sounds
nice right now.
Becky and I went two years ago this Sep. and
traveled from the northern
boarder to the Black Sea in the south. We
stopped at several newly planted
church's to pray and minister with each of
the pastors.
This time we will be staying Kiev, the
capital city. We will be working
with an American lady who has a ministry to
handicap. They were not given
any help from the Communist government
because they did not want them seen
in public. Now that communism is gone these
people have even less.
This lady has a large warehouse she receives
wheelchair parts, crutches and
leg braces, etc. to build and repair new ones
and gives them to these
people. We will great opportunity for
ministry to them and the workers
there. We will also have other ministry
opportunities in the capital.
We are estimating the total cost for air
fair, room and board to be about
$2000 per person for the 7 to 10 days. Would
you pray about joining us?
Also pray about giving to some who may not be
able to cover the $2,000. We
would like to help the wheelchair ministry
financially.
If you want to know more email or call Becky
or myself at 623-214-3671.
This is from Eileen Mladenoff , also of Sonlight
Home Church in Surprise.
the Lord seemed to impress upon us to start
up an outreach ministry in
Surprise amongst all the Christian musicians
by organizing them all to
come together and perform live concerts in
the green belts (grassy
areas) of local home developments as well as
other areas around the
city, the goal being to present music to draw
crowds in and give
opportunities throughout the performances and
within the words of the
songs to receive Christ.
We covet the home churches' prayers. If
anyone would feel led to help
us by volunteering to come out once a month
to set up and tear down
equipment, clean up the concert grounds
afterwards, possibly serve
food, help sell musical promotions, put up
and dismantle tents, and
mingle with the audience that would be
awesome. If there are Christian
musicians in bands that wish to donate some
time in these once a month
venues, that would be great too. We have
already contacted some
Christian businessmen about parking lots to
play in and I have sent
out letters to area churches to share the
vision with them. We have
also met with our vice mayor who has given us
some helpful information
and seems to be willing to help us in this
endeavor. We hope to have
our first outreach concert in October,
possibly September if things
move along in a timely fashion.
Anyone who may feel led to help can call Tony
or me at 623-556-4649 or
email us at ekm93@juno.com
and we will get in
touch with them.

We just celebrated our nations birthday on
July 4. That this country was founded on
Judeo-Christian values, there is no argument.
I just read about our Senate being opened
this morning by a prayer by a Hindu chaplain
from Nevada. This is the first time for this
and is very disturbing to me. Thanks to
Sutton Kinter for this short history
lesson:
The source for having prayer to open the
business of both the House and Senate comes
from the Constitutional Convention of 1787.
The gridlock from opposing views as to how
the country would be governed nearly scuttled
the convention. The solution came from
Benjamin Franklin, who declared that the Holy
Scriptures [ meaning the Christian Bible ]
stated that unless the Lord builds the house,
they labor in vain. He pointedly reminded
those assembled that they had prayed often
during the Revolutionary War, beseeching
Almighty God for aid against their common foe
of Great Britain. He noted that the Lord
repeatedly answered those prayers. Therefore,
he proposed that they should open their
sessions with prayers to their 'Powerful
Friend', seeking His help to create the
framework for their new government. Which is
why they did so as of the next morning. 3
weeks later, the Great Compromise was reached
which created the Congress as it now is. It
is also interesting to note that the US
Supreme Court, when approached by a lawsuit
under the guise of 'separation of church and
State', ruled that they had no standing to
rule on the practise of such prayer, since it
was in place before the Constitution existed.
That is why the public purse pays for the 2
chaplains to do their job. The Founding
Fathers of this country never intended to
pray to any God other than the God of Heaven
as revealed in the Christian Scriptures.
I think today is a sad day in America. What
do you think?
Please email me with any ideas for future
newsletters.
God bless,
Larry Johnson
