  • Greetings!

What a month! God is truly at work in Phoenix and in Arizona.

We are seeing God answer prayers in so many ways; from a new life needing a home to the unity expressed in a gathering of many house churches looking for a shared vision to the blessing of being trained by one of the world's foremost church planters.

Read and be encouraged. But remember that there is much work to be done. We have been given the responsibility of taking God's message to the people. We are equipped and prepared. Do you share the vision?

I know there are individuals and groups involved in house church around Phoenix that are not on the mailing list for this newsletter. Feel free to forward this to anyone you think may be interested.

Check The Joshua Tree blog for commentary on topics of interest to the house church community.

    New Parents

When a young couple they know came to them and asked if they would adopt thier little newborn baby girl, Henry and Cindy Staggs could not refuse. With barely 24 hours advance notice, they became the adoptive parents to little Emma Madison.

Their house church fellowship has banded around them in support to help them get ready for the adoption process. If God is leading you to help Henry and Cindy in any way, please contact Larry.

Please pray that the adoption process will go smoothly.

    House Church Retreat

Families from house churches all over the Phoenix area converged on the Prescott Pines Camp on February 3 for the first annual house church retreat. Our guest speaker was George Patterson, a recognized expert on the subject of church multiplication.

They came from Phoenix, Mesa, Surprise, Gilbert, Peoria, Safford. They came ....

    What are our next steps?

Now its important that we follow through with what was planned during the retreat. To keep the momentum going, and to help us all follow through with our committments, the following are suggested next steps.

    • The materials that were given out at the end of the retreat should be distributed within the house churches to reinforce what we learned. Additional copies of Church Multiplication Guide can be purchased direct from the publisher, William Carey Library.
    • Take the opportunity to look at the huge amount of resources made available by George free on the internet at http://www.paul-timothy.net and http://www.mentorandmultiply.com.
    • Coordinators should mark their calendars for Saturday March 11 for their first meeting at Jeff Evilsizor's home. Planned times are 2pm to 4pm. More details will be sent out.
    • To understand the fields of opportunity around us, demographic research is needed. If you would like to help, please contact Darrell Kilcup.
    • Darrell and Jeff are spear-heading the establishment of a 24/7 prayer room in the valley. They are looking for a room for this. If you know of a place where this could be done, please contact one of them.
    • For more ideas on multiplying churches while reaching the lost in our communities, read Organic Church: Growing Faith Where Life Happens by Neil Cole. This book will reinforce what we learned from George. Go to our website to order your copy.
    • Become grounded in the Biblical foundation of house church by attending the workshop coming up on March 25.
RESPONSE REQUESTED: To help reinforce the lessons we learned, please share something you learned or an impression you took away from the retreat. Send these to Larry and they will be published in the March edition of the newsletter.

RESPONSE REQUESTED: A proposed Association of Phoenix Area House Churches was put before those who attended the retreat. More information on the proposal can be found here. We want to trust the Lord on this so it is totally dependent on the level of support there is from the area house churches. Please send Larry your thoughts on this.
